Welcome!

Explore, experience, enjoy Ugandan culture through art!

A Journey Back In Time.

Picture

The dedication to sharing life experiences comes from my humble home in a small village in Buganda, central Uganda.

We learned, played and worked together with family and friends.
Arts and crafts, singing, dancing, cooking, gardening were part of life growing up.  Our Country men and women remember similar values and traditions to this day.

The culture was diverse but life was simple.  Elders were the fiber that united communities.  Parenthood was not limited to the immediate family.   The extended families, churches, Schools, teachers and the whole village all played a major role in our upbringing.
We are forever grateful for their unconditional love with roots set in customs and traditions.  It has taken many years to realize my dream, but I know there is something special about telling these stories!

Company Profile
Uganda Cultural Art Network LLC  (ucan)
The Company was founded 9/1/2011 as a reflection of the rich Ugandan culture that raised me.   Located in East Meadow NY, serves Long Island and the Five Boroughs (Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island).

Uganda Cultural Art Network is a lifestyle journey with creative ways to enhance our experience and share the wisdom with the young ones.
ucan recreation for kids grades k-8, keeps them moving to the beats and rhythms of African Music.  Kids experience Africa's past and present through stories and  songs, while they enjoy creating works of arts and crafts.
ucan outreach has interactive workshops of dance, folklore and discussions for Adults, Teens and Kids at libraries,  Schools, day care and after school centers.
ucan enrichment focuses on home cooking, giving local healthy foods an exotic flavor.  We bring the ingredients and recipes to your kitchen at home, schools, community centers and churches.

Our main goal is to connect communities, secure a better tomorrow by passing on our wisdom and creative skills to the next generation.  We are in a way giving back like those that came before us who sacrificed so much for the opportunity to follow our dreams!
Over my 30 plus years, I've participated in cultural functions for social, education and health by lending a hand to raise funds for the causes.  We believe art connects all people, it brings us closer to one another in good and bad times.   Let us reach out to our brothers and sisters and share our love of art
 together.
